As of writing, around 40% of Young men in the country are still living at home 33% ish for women. It’s not that we of the younger generations are lazy and want to mooch off of our parents, we can’t afford to strike out on our own. A societies lifeblood is the youngest of its members ability to come into their own as they see fit. This is not possible for many of us. We are the movers and the shakers.
Unaffordability
Decreased Social and Economic Mobility
No Room to take risks and explore what we want to do with our lives
These are things that should scare us all.
Our Society is constructed around the ability to take risks in order to create the next big thing. The average American can’t afford to take risks. We can and must change that.
How?
Small businesses were once the backbone of our economy, they hold the communities around them together and give a town its flavor. This can be true again. I propose a small business guarantee.
Instead of the government propping up multinational conglomerates it should instead to its roots; WE THE PEOPLE. By once again raising the tax rate on large corporations we can underwrite the lowest interest rates possible so that you can start the small business of your dreams. You give the government a percentage of your life’s earnings to spend. Why can’t it invest in you? The government invests in the people, the economy grows, you pay the government back and that money is reinvested in the community not in bailing out Wall Street or fighting wars abroad.
